Trust · Data Independence Policy

No one can pay to change a score.

Aquagenuity accepts public funding for boundary, inventory and infrastructure work only. We never accept funding for anything that touches a score, a methodology ruling or a published finding.

What we will take money for

Work that builds the record.

  • Mapping drinking water service areas and correcting public boundary data
  • Service line material inventories, and the research to resolve unknowns
  • Water infrastructure assessment, monitoring and remediation
  • Community science: test kits, field programs, student research and curriculum
  • Certification of sites and products against a published standard
  • Licensing our data and tools at published rates, to any buyer, on the same terms
What we will never take money for

From anyone, at any price.

  • Changing, raising, suppressing or delaying a score
  • A methodology ruling, a reference limit, or a decision about what gets measured
  • Removing anyone from a public report, map or watch list
  • Preferential placement in any recommendation shown to a resident
  • Scoring anyone on terms different from everyone else

How the separation is enforced

01

An independent science panel owns the method.

Rulings on reference limits, scoring rules, measurement standards and version changes belong to an independent scientific panel with members from outside Aquagenuity. The panel is forming now; its members and its rulings will be published.

02

Certification is separate from remediation.

Our certification work is documented and publicly separated from any filtration, treatment or remediation work, and that separation is published.

03

Recommendations are never paid placement.

When we point a resident toward a solution, we follow published criteria, such as certification to a recognized standard. No one buys a position in a recommendation.

04

Every funder is disclosed.

Every funder of every project will be named in our methodology and in the report that project produced.

05

Every score is reproducible.

Each score is versioned and traceable to the samples, reference limits and method version that produced it, so anyone can recompute it. Read the methodology.

Why we published this first

Credibility is a door that closes once.

An index is only worth what its independence is worth. We would rather turn down money than explain, later, why we took it. Questions: hello@aquagenuity.com.
